btw, like I said before I'm pretty new here (thanks for the welcome), so maybe you can explain this to me. Why are there so many entries in this contest that have nothing to do with what the rules stated? I'm looking at a ton of images that don't follow the color pallet, include shading, include black line art, and in some cases have nothing to do with the contest. Am I looking at something wrong?
ah yes, you would be surprised at how many people stumble up to the anthro challenge when trying to categorize their deviations. They see the title, and being hungry for prizes or just to get their art seen by actual contestants, they enter their art under that category. The deviations get re-categorized soon though.
Funny you should say that, I actually thought that, I've been keeping track of the entries myself as they appear, and I think going by the spirit of the contest, to say nothing of the actual rules, yours is the one that most deserves to win. I mean, I think Toyboxfox has everybody beat in terms of skill so far, but his/her picture very much utilizes lineart (as does mine, I might add) we kind of meandered our way around that rule by not using black lineart, but (if we're honest) we're both just coloring our lineart differently that we usually would. (btw, if toyboxfox ever reads this it is not at all meant as a diss on your work. As of right now I've got you pegged for first place) You on the other hand truly didn't use lineart, stuck with the color pallet and came up with a great piece that is instantly recognizable for what it is. I knew long before I read the description that it was a puppy version of Vanellope Von Schweetz, which is pretty impressive considering the limitations you had to work with. and if that combined with the simple charm of your piece wasn't enough, I'd say yours does a better job of sticking to the theme, a spark of color. I kind of had to force mine into the category by having sparks come off of Kiko's magic ball, and claiming he preforms "colorful" magic. So, while I would love to snag second place in this contest (I've given up on first) I wouldn't sell your own piece short. When I told my wife I was entering this contest, yours was one of the pieces I specifically showed to her saying that I thought it was good competition.
hnn, I guess this contest got really interesting now! >u< usually you can clearly see the winners and the losers but right now I'm stumped to who will take the prize! XD Sometimes not many people enter, so people like me have good odds at winning (I beleive I took the 3rd prize at christmas) looks like we'll have to wait and see who will win! >u< I compete mostly for fun tho~
